BetterSIM ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our websites and mobile applications (collectively, the "Service"). Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the service.

Collection of Your Information

We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect via the Service includes:

Information you provide

When you join our flat-rate eSIM launch list, we store your email address, current provider category, the offer placement, destination and quoted price in Google Firebase so we can evaluate demand and send the promised launch update. This is a registration of interest, not a purchase. Our trip finder processes the trip details you enter to recommend plans. Our AI chat sends your messages to Google Gemini to provide answers; please do not include sensitive information.

Website analytics

We use Amplitude (EU data region) through a first-party endpoint to understand which pages help travelers and how the site performs. With your consent, we collect page and declared canonical URLs without query strings or fragments, page type, language, referring pages without query strings, approved campaign labels (source, medium and campaign), coarse device/browser/operating-system categories, page duration, active time, maximum scroll depth and website performance metrics (LCP, CLS, INP and FCP). We also count provider link clicks, plan requests, offer views and launch-list interactions. A completed signup event contains a random receipt ID, not your email or form answers. Provider clicks express interest; they do not tell us whether you purchased from a provider.

If you reject analytics, have not made a choice yet, or allow analytics while your browser blocks cookies, we still count page views, provider link clicks, plan requests and launch-list interactions, but anonymously: apart from remembering your choice, we store nothing on your device and attach no identifier, so each event is recorded on its own rather than linked to your other page views, sessions or later visits. These events contain the page and its declared canonical URL (without query strings), page type and language, the external site you arrived from (only on the first page you open; later pages record just that you came from within our site), approved campaign labels, coarse device/browser/operating-system categories, your consent state, and the link or offer involved. Their time is recorded to the minute. We do not measure page duration, scroll depth or performance for them, and a completed signup is counted without its receipt ID.

If you allow analytics, a first-party cookie stores a random browser identifier for up to 180 days. This lets us connect visits from the same browser without knowing your name or email. A separate session record in local storage keeps your session and its landing-page information across navigation and tabs. Sessions expire after 30 minutes of inactivity and last no more than 24 hours. We do not connect different devices, use fingerprinting, record sessions, or capture form contents. Clearing browser storage breaks that continuity.

We remember your allow or reject choice in a separate preference cookie for 180 days. You can reject analytics or withdraw consent at any time using Cookie preferences in the footer. Rejecting or withdrawing consent clears our browser identifier and session storage and limits collection to the anonymous counting described above; it does not automatically erase previously collected events. We stop all analytics, including anonymous counting, when your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track. You can use the whole site and voluntarily join the launch list whatever you choose.

We retain historical analytics data in PostHog (US Cloud) and private exports for migration verification and recovery. Older session-only PostHog data has been imported into Amplitude; it cannot identify returning browsers. Our analytics endpoint does not forward your IP address, cookies, raw browser user-agent, email or form answers to either analytics provider. Cloudflare necessarily processes network requests and may keep operational logs or set security cookies. Legacy Google Analytics/Zaraz tracking remains disabled on bettersim.com and www.bettersim.com.

Analytics reports cover visitors whose browsers deliver the events and do not send a privacy signal; only consented visitors have sessions and return visits. They may miss blocked requests or unsupported performance metrics. Our supplemental offer-view counter also requires analytics consent. Affiliate providers have their own privacy practices after you follow links to their sites. Some affiliate links tell the provider which BetterSIM page and link position you clicked (for example “dest-japan” and “saily-offer-evidence”), so its reports can show which pages lead to purchases; these labels contain nothing about you.

Use of Your Information

Having accurate information about you permits us to provide you with a smooth, efficient, and customized experience. Specifically, we may use information collected about you via the Service to:

  • Generate personalized recommendations or content. For example, sending anonymized query data to a third-party AI service (Google Gemini) for our eSIM tool.
  • Send the launch-list update you requested.
  • Increase the efficiency and operation of the Service.
  • Monitor and analyze usage and trends to improve your experience with the Service.
  • Notify you of updates to the Service.
  • Request feedback and contact you about your use of the Service.
  • Resolve disputes and troubleshoot problems.

Disclosure of Your Information

We may share information we have collected about you in certain situations. Your information may be disclosed as follows:

  • By Law or to Protect Rights: If we believe the release of information about you is necessary to respond to legal process, to investigate or remedy potential violations of our policies, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of others, we may share your information as permitted or required by any applicable law, rule, or regulation.
  • Third-Party Service Providers: We may share your information with third parties that perform services for us or on our behalf, including payment processing, data analysis, email delivery, hosting services, customer service, and marketing assistance. For our eSIM recommendation feature, we send non-personally identifiable information to our AI service provider (Google).
  • Business Transfers: We may share or transfer your information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company.

Security of Your Information

We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the personal information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse.

Your Data Rights
