Prices are live and may change. Google Fi is excluded from the value ranking because it is a full phone plan rather than a travel data plan.
JT (the dominant carrier), Sure Jersey and Airtel-Vodafone Jersey all run 4G across central St. Helier, the Royal Square, King Street shopping district and the waterfront promenade. JT has the widest 4G footprint on the island.
Mont Orgueil Castle, Gorey harbour and the Royal Bay of Grouville golf links are all well covered. The drive on the coastal A4 east from St. Helier stays connected throughout; smaller cove access roads thin briefly.
St. Brelade's Bay, Beauport beach (often Jersey's top-ranked beach) and the Corbière Lighthouse area are all covered. The cliff walk between them stays connected; brief signal dips at the deeper cove access steps.
The dramatic cliff walks from Bouley Bay to Bonne Nuit Bay and Grève de Lecq, plus the iconic Devil's Hole, all have functional 4G via JT and Sure. Signal holds along the high coast path even at the more remote sections.
The Jersey War Tunnels (Hohlgangsanlage 8) WWII museum, Hamptonne Country Life Museum and the inland St. Lawrence villages are all well covered. The Underground Hospital tunnel interior has signal at the entrance galleries.
The remote uninhabited reef islets of Les Écréhous (north-east) and Les Minquiers (south) are reached only by boat. JT signal extends part of the way out but drops in the open Channel; boat trips out are largely offline.
St. Helier
- Arriving
- Jersey Airport (JER) is about 8 km from St. Helier, served by the LibertyBus and taxis. The terminal has 4G from JT, Sure and Airtel-Vodafone. Like Guernsey, Jersey is a Crown dependency outside the UK and EU for roaming, so confirm your plan covers the Channel Islands or expect international charges.
- On the subway and rail
- Jersey runs LibertyBus services, and St. Helier is walkable; ferries link to Guernsey, France and the UK. There is no rail. Coverage holds across the town and the coastal walking paths. The compact island means signal and WiFi are rarely far away.
- Free public WiFi
- Cafes, hotels, the markets and Liberation Square provide WiFi, a handy fallback given the roaming caveats. JER airport has terminal WiFi. Connectivity is easy across St. Helier and the main parishes.
- Coverage in the city
- JT (the dominant carrier), Sure Jersey and Airtel-Vodafone all run 4G across central St. Helier, the Royal Square, King Street and the waterfront promenade. The east coast around Mont Orgueil and the south-west beaches are well covered. As a Crown dependency, Jersey sits outside UK and EU roaming.
- If you prefer a local SIM
- JT, Sure and Airtel-Vodafone sell SIMs in St. Helier. As with Guernsey, many UK and EU plans charge international rates here, so verify your eSIM lists the Channel Islands specifically, or pick up a local SIM on arrival.
Grab an eSIM before you arrive in Jersey to skip local SIM queues. Most urban areas offer 4G or better, while rural regions can slow down, so keep offline maps handy. Activating the eSIM in advance ensures you are connected the moment you clear customs.
Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands, provides reliable mobile connectivity for travelers exploring its beaches, heritage sites, and countryside. JT, Sure, and Airtel-Vodafone maintain 4G networks across the island, and its compact size of roughly nine by five miles means coverage is strong and consistent. St. Helier, the main town, has the best connectivity, but even the quieter northern parishes and coastal walking paths maintain usable signal.
Like Guernsey, Jersey is a British Crown dependency and sits outside both the UK and EU for telecommunications purposes. This means standard UK or EU roaming plans may not include Jersey, and travelers should explicitly confirm Channel Islands coverage with their eSIM provider before arrival. Unexpected roaming charges are a common pitfall for visitors who assume UK plans apply automatically.
- Jersey is not part of the UK or EU for roaming purposes - confirm your eSIM plan covers the Channel Islands
- The island is very small, so 4G coverage is reliable nearly everywhere
- Some UK-based eSIM plans charge international rates in Jersey - check before you travel
- Wi-Fi is widely available in hotels, cafes, and restaurants across St. Helier
- If also visiting Guernsey or France, verify each destination is covered by your plan

- 1
Buy and install at home on WiFi.
Installation is not the same as activation. You can install the Jersey eSIM days ahead and only switch it on after you land, which avoids burning days of validity in transit.
- 2
Screenshot your current APN before you swap.
If you ever need to switch back to your home line quickly, that screenshot saves a support call from a foreign airport.
- 3
Decide on your dual-SIM strategy.
Keep your home line on for SMS-based bank logins, two-factor codes, and emergency calls. Set the travel eSIM as the data line only. Most modern phones can do both simultaneously.
- 4
Disable iMessage on the travel eSIM line.
Otherwise iMessage will try to re-activate against the new line on arrival and you will spend the first ten minutes troubleshooting it instead of finding the taxi rank.
- 5
Download offline maps for Jersey.
Google Maps and Apple Maps both support offline regions. Pull them down on home WiFi so a flaky activation never leaves you without a route from the airport. Our offline maps guide walks through it step by step.
- 6
Activate at the airport, not before.
Once the validity timer starts it does not pause. A 15-day plan you turn on the morning of departure burns a full day of validity before you even land.
We are building this section from real, verified traveler submissions rather than stock testimonials, so it stays empty until we have notes we can stand behind. If you have used an eSIM in Jersey recently, a one-paragraph note on what worked (and what did not) helps the next traveler.
