Telesur (the state carrier) and Digicel Suriname both run 4G across the UNESCO-listed wooden historic centre, the Onafhankelijkheidsplein (Independence Square) and the Waterkant promenade along the Suriname River. Telesur has the wider national footprint.
The east-west coastal road from Albina (on the French Guiana border at the Marowijne river) through Paramaribo to Nieuw Nickerie (on the Guyanese border at the Corantijn) stays connected at the larger settlements. The Maroon villages along the way thin briefly.
The historic plantation belt across the Suriname River from Paramaribo (Frederiksdorp, Marienburg) has functional 4G at the heritage stops. The river-cruise tours stay connected close to shore; deeper jungle excursions thin out.
Brownsberg, the easily accessible nature park overlooking the Brokopondo reservoir, has basic Telesur signal at the visitor centre. The deeper trails to the Mazaroni waterfall and the Leo waterfall drop coverage in the canopy.
The Maroon villages along the Upper Suriname (Pokigron, Atjoni and onwards to Botopasi, Pikinslee) have very basic or no terrestrial signal. The dugout-canoe journeys deeper into the rainforest run on satellite radio and lodge generators only.
The vast Central Suriname Nature Reserve (UNESCO, covering about 12% of the country) is reliably offline. Raleighvallen Lodge, the Voltzberg granite-dome climb and the deeper Wilhelmina Mountains have lodge satellite WiFi for emergencies only.

- Johan Adolf Pengel International (PBM) is about 45 km from the centre; transfers are by taxi. The airport has 4G from Telesur and Digicel. Paramaribo and the coast are where Suriname's coverage sits; the vast rainforest interior is largely offline. Download maps before any interior trip.
- On the subway and rail
- Paramaribo moves by buses and taxis; the UNESCO wooden historic centre is walkable along the Suriname River. There is no metro. Coverage holds across the capital and the coastal road. River cruises stay connected close to shore; deeper jungle excursions go offline.
- Free public WiFi
- Hotels, cafes and the Waterkant promenade provide WiFi across Paramaribo. PBM airport has terminal WiFi. Connectivity is concentrated in the capital and along the coast.
- Coverage in the city
- Telesur (the state carrier) and Digicel both run 4G across the UNESCO-listed wooden historic centre, Independence Square (Onafhankelijkheidsplein) and the Waterkant along the river, with Telesur the wider network. The Commewijne plantation belt is covered at the heritage stops. The interior reserves are offline.

Suriname offers basic mobile connectivity concentrated in its coastal urban area. Telesur and Digicel provide 4G LTE in Paramaribo and along the main coastal road. The vast interior rainforest - which covers about 80% of Suriname - has virtually no cellular coverage.
