Prices are live and may change. Google Fi is excluded from the value ranking because it is a full phone plan rather than a travel data plan.
Digicel Cayman and Flow Cayman both run 4G with 5G appearing across George Town, the Seven Mile Beach resort strip and the cruise port. Coverage holds across the financial district and out to West Bay.
The Stingray City sandbar boat tours from Camana Bay and Rum Point have signal at the marinas. The shallow sandbar trips stay connected close to shore; deeper Sound crossings to Starfish Point and Kaibo are well served.
East End, Bodden Town and Rum Point are all fully covered by both carriers. The Mastic Trail through the interior dry forest has signal at the trailhead; the deeper Mastic Reserve thins briefly on the inland walk.
The Brac's main road (the Bluff) and the dive resort areas are covered. The famous bluff cliffs and the Parrot Reserve interior thin out, with Digicel the most consistent on the smaller sister island.
The small village settlement and the Bloody Bay dive resort have functional coverage. Most of the island's nine-mile area and the bird reserve on Booby Pond are reliably offline; treat Little Cayman as a working-disconnect island.
George Town
- Arriving
- Owen Roberts International (GCM) is a short ride from George Town; transfers are by taxi. The airport has 4G/5G from Digicel and Flow. George Town is the capital, the cruise hub and the gateway to Seven Mile Beach. A Caribbean regional eSIM works well across Grand Cayman.
- On the subway and rail
- George Town moves by taxis, the minibus system and rentals; the cruise-port shopping and Seven Mile Beach are nearby. There is no metro. Coverage is near-complete across Grand Cayman given its compact size. The Stingray City sandbar tours hold signal close to shore.
- Free public WiFi
- Camana Bay, the cruise port, the Seven Mile Beach resorts and the cafes provide WiFi. GCM airport has terminal WiFi. Connectivity is easy across the main island.
- Coverage in the city
- Digicel and Flow both run 4G with 5G across George Town, the Seven Mile Beach resort strip, the financial district and out to West Bay. Coverage holds at Stingray City, Rum Point and the East End. Cayman Brac has basic coverage; Little Cayman is more limited.
- If you prefer a local SIM
- Digicel and Flow sell SIMs at GCM and in George Town. A Caribbean regional eSIM works well; coverage is consistent across Grand Cayman either way.
Grab an eSIM before you arrive in Cayman Islands to skip local SIM queues. Most urban areas offer 4G or better, while rural regions can slow down, so keep offline maps handy. Activating the eSIM in advance ensures you are connected the moment you clear customs.
The Cayman Islands offer excellent mobile infrastructure for a Caribbean destination. Digicel and Flow provide strong 4G LTE coverage across Grand Cayman, including Seven Mile Beach, George Town, and the East End. The island is well-developed for tourism and telecommunications reflect this investment.
Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, the two smaller sister islands, have more basic coverage concentrated in their main settlement areas. Grand Cayman's compact size means coverage is consistent virtually everywhere on the main island. The Caymans are popular for diving, and while underwater connectivity is not an option, shore-based support and dive booking apps work reliably.

- Grand Cayman has near-complete coverage due to its compact size
- Cayman Brac has basic coverage; Little Cayman is more limited

- 1
Buy and install at home on WiFi.
Installation is not the same as activation. You can install the Cayman Islands eSIM days ahead and only switch it on after you land, which avoids burning days of validity in transit.
- 2
Screenshot your current APN before you swap.
If you ever need to switch back to your home line quickly, that screenshot saves a support call from a foreign airport.
- 3
Decide on your dual-SIM strategy.
Keep your home line on for SMS-based bank logins, two-factor codes, and emergency calls. Set the travel eSIM as the data line only. Most modern phones can do both simultaneously.
- 4
Disable iMessage on the travel eSIM line.
Otherwise iMessage will try to re-activate against the new line on arrival and you will spend the first ten minutes troubleshooting it instead of finding the taxi rank.
- 5
Download offline maps for Cayman Islands.
Google Maps and Apple Maps both support offline regions. Pull them down on home WiFi so a flaky activation never leaves you without a route from the airport. Our offline maps guide walks through it step by step.
- 6
Activate at the airport, not before.
Once the validity timer starts it does not pause. A 15-day plan you turn on the morning of departure burns a full day of validity before you even land.
We are building this section from real, verified traveler submissions rather than stock testimonials, so it stays empty until we have notes we can stand behind. If you have used an eSIM in Cayman Islands recently, a one-paragraph note on what worked (and what did not) helps the next traveler.
