- Luis Muñoz MarÃn International (SJU) is a short ride from the city; transfers are by taxi or Uber. The airport has 4G/5G from T-Mobile, AT&T and Claro. As a US territory, most US eSIM and carrier plans include Puerto Rico at no extra charge, so check yours before buying a separate plan.
- On the subway and rail
- The Tren Urbano metro has cell coverage on its line, alongside the AMA buses and Uber. Coverage holds across Old San Juan, Condado and Isla Verde, comparable to a US mainland city. The compact Old San Juan is best walked, with strong signal throughout the colonial core.
- Free public WiFi
- The malls (Plaza Las Américas), Old San Juan, the Condado hotels and the cafes provide WiFi. SJU airport has terminal WiFi. Connectivity is excellent across the metro, on par with the US mainland.
- Coverage in the city
- T-Mobile, AT&T and Claro all run 5G across Old San Juan, Condado and the Isla Verde resort area, with T-Mobile the dominant island-wide. Coverage is excellent in the metro. El Yunque and the central mountains thin; Culebra and Vieques are covered in town but drop at remote beaches.

- Arriving
- Mercedita Airport (PSE) serves Ponce, with San Juan (SJU) about an hour and a half away by car; transfers are by taxi. The carriers cover the route. Ponce, the "Pearl of the South", is Puerto Rico's second city. Most US plans include the island, so connectivity is seamless for US-carrier travellers.
- On the subway and rail
- Ponce moves by taxis, públicos (shared cars) and a downtown trolley; the Plaza Las Delicias and the historic centre are walkable. There is no metro. Coverage holds across the city and the coast. The mountainous interior toward the Cordillera Central thins.

- The Plaza Las Delicias area, the hotels and the La Guancha boardwalk provide WiFi. Connectivity is reliable across the city, comparable to the US mainland.
- Coverage in the city
- T-Mobile, AT&T and Claro all cover Ponce's historic centre, the Plaza Las Delicias, the red-and-black Parque de Bombas firehouse and the La Guancha waterfront. T-Mobile is the dominant carrier. The drive north into the Cordillera Central mountains sees some gaps.
