Etisalat and du both offer dense 5G across the two flagship cities, including the Marina, Downtown, Bur Dubai and the Corniche. Indoor coverage in the mega-malls (Dubai Mall, Yas Mall) is consistently strong.
Full cell coverage on every Metro line including the underground stretches. The Dubai Tram and the Palm Monorail also hold signal end to end. Etisalat tends to be the more reliable underground operator.
4G/5G blankets the populated coastal strip from Sharjah up through Ras Al Khaimah. Coverage holds inland to Hatta and through the Hajar mountain road if you take the Khor Fakkan crossing.
Etisalat is the consistent choice across the desert interior. The dune-bashing and overnight desert-camp areas have usable signal at the resorts themselves; the deeper dune drives lose coverage between sites.
The Indian Ocean coastline and the mountain road from Sharjah are well covered on both carriers. Diving sites and the rocky beaches at Snoopy Island and Al Aqah stay connected.
Etisalat reaches further into the Hajars and out toward the Rub' al Khali fringes. Some interior wadis and the unpaved tracks above Jebel Jais lose signal entirely; carry offline maps for serious mountain driving.
Dubai

- Dubai International (DXB) is the world's busiest airport for international passengers. All three terminals have 5G end-to-end from both Etisalat (e&) and du. The Dubai Metro Red Line connects T3 and T1 to Downtown in about 45 minutes - signal holds throughout the underground stretches. Al Maktoum (DWC) in the south handles overflow and cargo.

- The Dubai Metro (Red and Green lines, plus the 2020 Route 2020 extension) has full cell coverage on every platform and inside tunnels - both Etisalat and du run 5G underground. The Dubai Tram through Marina/JBR and the monorail to Palm Jumeirah stay connected. RTA buses keep continuous signal. The Burj Khalifa observation deck has full 5G on both carriers.

Both run 5G SA across the city. Coverage holds across mega-malls, the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina Walk and at Burj Al Arab. Indoor at Dubai Mall fashion levels is excellent on both.

- Etisalat and du both have stores in DXB arrivals (T1, T2, T3) selling tourist SIMs - typically 1 GB free included with the tourist pack, plus paid top-ups. Carrefour and Lulu hypermarket branches throughout the city sell SIMs. Tourist SIM activation requires passport scan (biometric on arrival for short-term tourist plans). Note: most VoIP services (WhatsApp voice/video, FaceTime, Skype) are blocked nationwide regardless of carrier.
Abu Dhabi

- Zayed International Airport (AUH, renamed from Abu Dhabi International in 2024) opened the new Terminal A in late 2023 - massive single-terminal hub with full 5G from both carriers. No direct rail link yet; the standard transfer is Etihad Express bus or taxi to the city in about 35-50 minutes depending on traffic.
- On the subway and rail
- Abu Dhabi has no metro system yet (the planned Abu Dhabi Metro is under early construction). The Department of Transport bus network is the public-transit backbone and maintains continuous cellular signal on all routes. The Yas Island internal shuttles and the Yas Express to Ferrari World, Warner Bros World and Yas Waterworld all stay connected.

- Smart Abu Dhabi WiFi covers the Corniche, Saadiyat Island public beaches, the Louvre Abu Dhabi promenade and major malls (Yas Mall, Marina Mall, Al Wahda Mall) with SMS verification.
