Kcell (the largest carrier, Kazakhtelecom-affiliated), Beeline Kazakhstan and Tele2 Kazakhstan all run 4G with 5G appearing across central Astana and Almaty. The futuristic Bayterek tower and the Almaty city core hold dense 5G throughout.
The Medeu ice rink, the Shymbulak ski-resort cable cars and the Big Almaty Lake area are well covered at the main destinations. The longer hikes deeper into the Tian Shan toward Talgar and the Kazakhstan-Kyrgyzstan border drop signal.
The Charyn Canyon visitor area and the lower Kolsai lake have functional Kcell signal. The longer hike to the second and third lakes, plus the Kaindy submerged-forest lake, drop coverage in the deeper valleys.
Aktau city has functional 4G. The drives to the chalk Bozzhyra plateau, the Sherkala mountain and the Aral remnants thin out fast across all carriers; treat the deep Mangystau steppe as offline territory.
Kyzylorda, Turkestan and Shymkent are covered. The drives north toward the Baikonur Cosmodrome perimeter and the long highway stretches across the southern steppe thin out, with Kcell the most consistent rural carrier.

- Almaty International (ALA) is about 15 km from the centre; transfers are by bus 92 or the Yandex Go and inDrive ride apps. There is no rail link. All terminals have 4G with 5G from Kcell, Beeline and Tele2. Have data ready, as the ride apps work well across the city.

- The Almaty Metro (a single line) has cell coverage on the stations, with buses, trolleybuses and the Yandex Go and inDrive ride apps covering the rest. Coverage is strong across the centre. The mountain destinations of Medeu and Shymbulak above the city are covered at the main stations.

- The malls leave WiFi open: Dostyk Plaza, Mega and Esentai Mall. Cafes and Panfilov Park offer WiFi. ALA airport has free terminal WiFi. Hotels provide guest WiFi as standard, so the city is easy to stay connected in.
