The best eSIM for Asia
Asia has no shared roaming agreement, so a plan that works in Thailand will not automatically work in Japan. Most travelers buy per-country, but multi-country regional plans exist for trips that span Southeast Asia. Here is the best value today, every country we track, and the one place that needs special planning: mainland China.
Across the 30 Asia countries we track, GoMoWorld has the lowest average price-per-gigabyte. A dependable default for a multi-country trip when you would rather not buy a separate plan at every border.
Which Asia plan, for which trip?
The right plan depends on which countries you are visiting and for how long. Use this matrix as a starting point.
When the whole trip is in one country, a country plan has the lowest price-per-gigabyte. There is no reason to pay for a regional bundle.
For a trip across Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and neighbors, one regional plan beats buying a new plan at every border.
Both have excellent networks and competitive country plans. A local plan is the simplest and cheapest option.
Ordinary plans hit the Great Firewall. Pick a plan that routes through Hong Kong so Google, WhatsApp, and maps keep working.
India is a single large market with some of the cheapest data anywhere. A country plan is the clear value pick.
Coverage drops fast once you leave the main islands. Buy the country plan and download offline maps before you go.
For a month or longer, look at 30-day-plus validity or unlimited country plans rather than stacking short bundles.
For a short stop, a pay-as-you-go plan beats any fixed bundle. You only pay for the little data you use.

Why there is no Roam Like At Home in Asia
Asia is the opposite of Europe. No regulator forces plans to work across borders, so coverage and price swing hard from one country to the next.
Unlike the EU, Asia has no regional roaming regulation. A plan sold for Thailand works in Thailand, and that is it. Multi-country Asia plans do exist, but they are commercial bundles a provider assembles, not a legal guarantee, so always check the exact country list before you buy.
Prices vary more here than anywhere else. Data in India or Indonesia can cost a few cents per gigabyte, while Japan and South Korea run several times higher. A regional bundle averages those out, which helps on a mixed itinerary and hurts if you are only visiting the cheaper markets.
Mainland China is the special case. eSIMs work there, but China's Great Firewall blocks Google, WhatsApp, Instagram, and most Western apps. The fix is a plan that routes your data through Hong Kong or Singapore, which most travel eSIMs for China do. Confirm this before you fly, and consider a VPN as backup.
